Journeyman Upgrade Courses
Any Active Bricklayers' Local 1 or Tilesetters' Local 18 Journeyman member wishing to improve their skills within their craft can do so at their Apprentice Training Center in one of the Upgrade Classes our instructors host, or through the John J. Flynn BAC/IMI International Training Center, a state-of-the-art training complex in Bowie, Maryland. Active Members can sharpen their skills, or add to their classifications, and there are opportunities for Finishers who are working towards becoming Setters. The Flynn Center offers training programs for BAC members at every stage of their career. Most programs, however, focus on the advanced training and certifications that are increasingly required in today’s construction industry. In addition to a wide variety of OSHA courses, programs such as the Historic Masonry Preservation Certificate and the Advanced Certifications for Tile are provided on a regular basis. Refractory familiarization, welding certification and other cross-craft training are also popular.
Active members in good standing can contact their trade's Apprentice Coordinator for more information or to sign up for a scheduled class. Contact Dale Jennewein (1MO) at 314.770.1066 or Charlie Reiter (18MO) at 314.220.5772 for more information.
